Diversified Helps Bring New Life to Historic Australian Theater as Part of Major Redevelopment
Blending the beauty of historic architecture with the latest in technology upgrades can breathe new life into any building and ensure years of memories for its visitors, especially when it comes to iconic locations. After decades of renovations that had not been kind to Her Majesty’s Theatre, the Adelaide Festival Centre Trust sought to restore the shine to this crown jewel with a A$6.6 million renovation.
With work beginning in April of 2018, Diversified was brought on board to deliver a full scope of technology upgrades. “Theatre systems are usually very high end and a highly specified design,” says Nico Van Wieringen, operations manager at Diversified. “For a project like Her Majesty’s Theatre, the pressure is on to deliver the performance and expectations of the stakeholders.”
Key technical systems integrated into the theater include a comprehensive technical cabling infrastructure with custom stagebox and patch panels; a custom stage management console housing paging, venue relay monitoring, cue lights and stage intercom systems; and a performance video relay system using venue long view and low light cameras to relay performances to monitors throughout the venue.
