Turner Elementary

Diversified worked together with Unity CMS in a partnership that provided Whiting Turner Construction with not only the necessary government certifications but a proven and disciplined approach to providing D.C. schools with cost effective and reliable solutions. The team leveraged past performance to provide a solution that elevated the facility’s level of technology and gave students, faculty and the rest of the community peace of mind.

Turner Elementary School is one of several Washington, D.C. Public Schools in which the Department of General Services has invested in full modernization and renovations. Before this project began, the existing school had been unoccupied and vandalized for years. Diversified worked with Whiting Turner Construction and Unity CMS, a D.C. based technology integration firm that has provided the District with outstanding Telecommunication, AV and Security work since 1986, to bring technology infrastructure improvements including a security solution that would minimize the building’s risk for any future vandalism or destruction of assets.

The renovation portion of the project covered roughly 77,000-square-feet and a new 18,000-square-foot addition was built to include a kitchen, gymnasium, locker rooms, additional classrooms, multi-purpose physical education space and new outside spaces.

Diversified designed and installed a turnkey access control system including the teledata network, CATV network, racks, door contacts, card readers, access cards, door releases, alarm sounders and motion detectors. Additionally, we provided an intrusion detection system and CCTV, allowing for around the clock monitoring of the new campus. All designs were based on requirements to meet LEED Silver standards.

Upon installation, Diversified integrated the security system into the District command center and provided all testing, commissioning and training, making sure the end user was prepared for any situation.
