Red Bull Media House

Recording Studio Design-Build Delivers State-of-the-Art Without Breaking Bank

As part of its meteoric growth, Red Bull created Red Bull Media House to produce and distribute print, audio visual and multimedia material from the World of Red Bull sports, culture, lifestyle and premium entertainment.

The studio is a state-of-the-art recording facility created to support musicians by providing a unique recording experience with top production tools in an upscale and comfortable environment. Diversified initially entered into a consulting engagement with Red Bull to research current technology and develop system specifications for a modest, efficient studio, which paved the way for the design-build contract. The challenge was simple: “Give us what we need without spending a lot of money.”

With a pulse on the latest technology, Diversified was able to value-engineer the entire production system. Diversified handled all aspects of the project including set design and a custom “gamer’s” console. Two key products are at the heart of the LA studio:

• NewTek’s TriCaster TC855, a multi-camera production and media publishing system designed for live streaming, online video, post production, and social media. The TC855 is a 24-channel switcher, with 8-source ISO recording, and a powerful integrated effects system for graphics, animations and virtual sets.

• Riedel’s MediorNet, a fiber-based signal transport system which combines signal transport, routing and signal processing and conversion into one integrated real-time network solution, allowing the user to send any incoming signal to any output or even to multiple outputs with just a mouse-click or by using a router control system. It includes integrated Frame Store/Frame Synchronizers and Embedders/De-Embedders at any input/output.

Red Bull and Diversified achieved their goal to obtain all of the operational features required within budget. Diversified’s knowledge of new technologies and its relationships with numerous vendors allowed the design team to get the right combination of equipment to do the job.
