HD Upgrades to Stadium Control Room and Video Scoreboard ‘Wow’ Fans
The San Diego Padres have undergone constant renovations to their stadium in Petco Park since 2013. The latest include HD upgrades to stadium control room and video scoreboard, and the addition of congregation areas.
The Padres chose Sony and Diversified to upgrade the HD control room, which was needed to support the new HD video scoreboard and additional audio visual, production and broadcast systems. As the project kicked off, much of the control room’s design had changed from the initial design. Changes late in the game often have the potential to create delays, as the integration team must adjust the project plan in order to accommodate.
Diversified was able to adapt and successfully integrate the new design through expert project management and a hands-on approach. The project remained on track and met the deadline for completion. Sony and Diversified have collaborated on a number of exceptional sports venue projects. The Padres recognized that this was a winning team and the results speak for themselves. As Erik Meyer, Director of Broadcast, stated, “This upgrade is a long time coming for the facility, but, at the same time, we are excited to be able to showcase this to the fans of San Diego. Petco Park is a world-class venue.”
