The Technology Behind Facebook London’s Forward-Thinking Tech Hub
Diversified Designed Corporate Broadcast Studio & Event Spaces
The UK is one of Facebook’s largest locations based outside of the United States. To accommodate continued growth and meet the demands of a tech-focused, forward-thinking workforce, Facebook retrofited a 24,000 sq. ft. building in Rathbone Square. With an interior designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry, Rathbone Square consists of four main areas spread over two floors: two dedicated event spaces, one café / event space and one managed corporate broadcast studio and green room. The largest area in the new offices – the town hall space – is found in most of Facebook’s locations across the globe. For design and deployment of the corporate broadcast studio, audio, video and conferencing solutions throughout the facility, Facebook partnered with Diversified.
“We have a long-standing relationship with Diversified. They have played a huge role in the development of our event space environment over the last five years and are a valued partner.”

A Supreme Corporate Broadcast Studio
In addition to the trio of event spaces, Facebook’s new London home boasts a state-of-the-art corporate broadcast studio and green room which is future proofed to ensure additional equipment can be added as required. The project scope outlined the requirement for an event space that was large enough to accommodate all employees while offering the highest quality broadcasts using Facebook Live, recordings and webinars.
The managed studio and green room are tethered to Facebook’s system backbone and feature a custom-made dedicated control and edit desk with I/O panels in both rooms. A paint monitor, Grass Valley routing panel, audio links, comms and fibre network tie lines are available for live production. The integrated event spaces are currently operator-led, but DIY-style event spaces will be installed in the future, featuring many pre-set configurations that can be accessed easily.
Following the project’s completion, Facebook was interviewed by AV Interactive Magazine to discuss how the project came together and how Diversified’s capabilities contributed to the state-of-the-art space. Through the skillful coordination with a London-based integrator, the team delivered custom corporate broadcast studios along with audio, video and conferencing solutions that streamline Facebook’s meetings, events and corporate broadcast productions.
Diversified’s specialized teams around the world tackle technology design and integration projects of all sizes and in all of today’s leading markets. Just as with the Rathbone Square project, we thrive on the challenge of creating unique environments that make a statement and provide the end user an interactive and dynamic experience that goes beyond that of traditional technology solutions.
